HAHN THE BARBARIAN began making sense of electronic music at age 12
in 1992 with genuine enthusiasm for the PC title “Mechwarrior
2” featuring music by Jeehun Hwang. Searching for similar music
that simplistically builds intelligent layers of sound and offers profound
or thought-provoking ideas, he discovered Banco De Gaia and soon after,
Juno Reactor. Now, Hahn thirsts for nearly all types of electronic music
and especially hybrids of Psytrance. He’s been collecting since
1997 and has a versatile library but maintains a clear interest in high-tech
psychedelic sounds that reveal prescient glimpses of surreal futures.
In 2000, Hahn banded with like minds to form Overmind Works, an outlet
for Psytrance in the deserts of Arizona. DJing was a natural bi-product
of involvement and the technical nature of Hahn’s mind yielded
an intuitive sense for mixing. He has played for numerous underground
gatherings in Arizona, public events, Tribalization festival north of
San Francisco, Spaate Club of Hamburg and Earthdance 2006 in his birth
state of Illinois. The Sonic Dragon Recordings Group have a formidable
edition with Hahn The Barbarian.
